Synecdoche is a community of artists based in Bristol, UK. We have worked together as a group since 2014, setting up exhibitions and public residencies, meeting to discuss our work and supporting one another. Members work across many disciplines including print, paint, sculpture, ceramics, metal, performance, social engagement, installation, drawing, stitch, video and more. By investigating the limits of mark making, our intention is to blur the boundaries between fine art and craft.
Many of our members exhibit elsewhere regularly. Others have taken part in national and international residencies. Have a look at their individual websites on our Artists page. We are unified by our shared history and the intellectual connections we make between material, process and concept.
