Ellie Gray sees drawing as the evidence of an action or exchange between the subject and the artist. Recently her work has concentrated on evaluating her own relationship with drawing, which is often used as a therapeutic process to expel nervous energy. Gray is externalising and rationalising an internal struggle with anxiety through the process of drawing. The project “Habit” focuses on the artist’s use of nail biting as a subject. This in turn has allowed her to make a habit out of drawing.
