Landscape and nature are Anstee’s source of inspiration. She draws in situ and explores tone and texture and this leads her towards a greater depth of understanding. Her pictures are not literal. Rather, they are ambiguous with many layers of memory. Using oil, acrylic and charcoal, the artist allows accidental runs and random marks to add to the overall effect.
"The art of seeing means everything... for me; my response to the way I see something becomes the basis of my work... Lithograph lends itself to the free flowing patterns I see."
